Central Valley 3, Grace Davis 1

The Hawks kicked off the season with an impressive showing at the Gregori Tournament. With the soccer comp season still going, the CIF requires that all comp players finish their current seasons before playing in high school games. Most comp seasons for the high school age will end this Thanksgiving weekend of Nov. 30th, so until then, the Hawks have dug deep into their depth. With just 6 of the 22 current varsity players active, the Hawks moved up some JV players went 3-1 in the Gregori Tournament and made it to the championship game. CV goals were scored by Fidel Hernandez, Diego de Jesus, Ivan Velasquez (3), Jaden Pires, Damian Tafolla, and Jayson Orque. CV has put together a daunting pre-season schedule which continues today with a trip to Clovis North High. Next week, the Hawks travel to Atwater High, McClatchy (Sacramento), and Franklin (Elk Grove).

Wrestling
The Hawks kicked off the Girls season and the JV Boys season by hosting tournaments here at Central Valley on both Friday and Saturday. I have not yet received the individual results from the tournament, but over 850 wrestlers participated in the tournaments over the weekend. As always, our coaches worked extremely hard to run a couple of excellent tournaments. Results will be posted as soon as delivered. The wrestling season continues this weekend as the Girls go to the Tokay tournament while the Boys travel to the Merced Tournament.
