Stunt Cheer

Central Valley 29, East Union 27

In the matchup we have been waiting for, the Hawks snuck by the East Union Lancers in stunt cheer on Thursday night by the score of 29-27.  The night started with these 2 undefeated teams locked in a 1st place tie, but ended with the Hawks victorious.  There won’t be much time to rest as these teams matchup again this Thursday here at CV at 8:00pm.  Good luck to the Lady Hawks as they look to put some distance between themselves and the 2nd place Lancers in CV’s quest to repeat as league champions.  CV is currenlty 4-0 in the WAC and in 1st place.

Oakdale Tournament: Central Valley finishes 12th out of 25 teams (results attached)

The Hawks turned some heads yesterday at a prestigious tournament in Oakdale as CV finished in the top half of the participating teams.  Nobody expected much from the Hawks as this was their first appearance at the tournament, but CV delivered with excellent play from Will Montez (16th overall) and Cristian Pena-Bossard (27th overall).  Your 1st place Hawks will resume WAC play this Thursday when they travel to Creekside Golf Course to play in the next WAC tournament.

Boys Volleyball

The Hawks dropped a couple of WAC contests over the past few days.  CV will look to get back on track today when they travel to Waterford High for a non-league matchup.

Track

On Friday the 27th, our CV athletes who placed top 6 in the Stan County Championship got to compete in the County Clash. We ended up taking 20 athletes and 5 alternates to the track meet, (that was the most we have taken in years).  We went up against the best Track and Field athletes across Stanislaus County, San Joaquin County, and Merced County; and our Hawks put up a fight until the very end!

Here are the athletes who placed top 10 in the County Clash:

David Alvarado placed 3rd in the Varsity Boys Discus

Ernesto Martinez placed 6th in the Varsity Boys 200m

Ernesto Martinez placed 6th in the Varsity Boys 400m

Steve Duran placed 9th in the 110m Hurdles

Central Valley placed 7th in the Varsity Boys 4X100m (Ernesto M. Massimo C., Allen S., Daniel L.)

Central Valley placed 4th in the Varsity Boys 4x400m (Ernesto M., Allen S., Daniel L., Steve D.)

Central Valley placed 7th in the Varsity Girls 4x400m (Kassandra T, Andrea T., Ayleen A, Yahaira Z)

Santiago Garcia Placed 9th in Varsity Boys  Shotput

These athletes put up a fight and are close to even breaking the school record for their events! Our next Track meet is at MJC where it is a Varsity only Track meet. I am excited to see how we finish the 2nd half of the season.
